IUCr Commission Nominations

Dear BCA members

The deadline for nominating members for the IUCr Commissions and Executive Committee is 31 August.

A nominator is required and as well as the usual personal details, it asks for the nominee’s qualifications, positions held and field of research.

The relevant forms are at http://www.iucr.org/iucr. I encourage you to consider nominating a UK crystallographer or consider being nominated for a position relevant to your area of expertise.

RSC invitation for tenders

The RSC is reviewing its arrangements for the assessment of crystallographic
data and information published in its peer-reviewed journals, and invites
tenders for a contract for work to assess a part of the structures published
in its journals. The RSC publishes over 25 journals, weekly, biweekly and
monthly, some, but not all, of which include crystallographic material.  In
total, approximately 2000 articles containing crystallographic structures

CCDC Younger Scientist Prize 2009

This award is made on the basis of published research within the scientific field of interest of the CCDC and BCA-CCG, defined as:

"Original research in the field of chemical crystallography or the application of crystallographic information to structural chemistry. This definition shall include advances in instrumental, experimental, theoretical or computational techniques that contribute to this field."
